As defined in Section 2(15) of the Code of Civil Procedure, cited in this judgment, "Pleader" means any person entitled to appear and plead for another in court, and includes an advocate, a Vakil, and an Attorney of a High Court.
Under Order III, Rule 4 of the CPC, cited in this judgment, no Pleader may act for a person in any court unless appointed by a signed document filed in court — the vakalatnama. The Court used this rule to show how much direct control a client keeps over an advocate acting as a Pleader in litigation.
