Laches — లాచెస్ (జాప్యం)

As used in this case, delay on the part of a party in taking steps to enforce a right. The trial Court found grave laches on the purchaser's side (para 10). This Court held that the purchaser's claim was hit by delay and laches (paras 77-78). The judgment does not give a formal definition.

Real-life example

The purchaser did not act within the stipulated time. The Court said the filing of the suit was delayed by almost five years. It held that the claim was barred by delay, laches and limitation (paras 77-78; 2022 judgment, recalled on review in 2024).
