Declaratory Decree — డిక్లరేటరీ డిక్రీ
A declaratory decree is a court order under Section 34 of the Specific Relief Act, 1963 that simply declares what a person's legal status or right actually is, without ordering anyone to do anything further — used when the only real problem is that someone is doubting or denying that status or right.

A woman's uncle keeps telling relatives she was never validly adopted and has no share in the family property, but has taken no concrete action against her. Since she is still in possession and no dispossession has happened, a suit for a bare declaration that she is the validly adopted daughter is the right remedy.

Students often think a declaratory suit is a cheap first step before later suing for the real relief. It isn't — the proviso to Section 34 bars the declaration itself if further relief was genuinely available and the plaintiff simply chose not to claim it in the same suit.
