As used in this case, a right that had already become fixed when the coparcener died. The appellants said that on the father's death a notional partition crystallised the heirs' shares and created vested rights, which a later amendment could not take away without an express provision or necessary intendment. The father died on 18 February 1988. The appellants said the heirs' shares became fixed at his death. The Court held that the 2005 amendment is prospective, so it does not reach a daughter whose coparcener father died before it.
