Conservation — కన్జర్వేషన్

The planned, sustainable use of natural resources — balancing present needs against future availability, rather than locking resources away completely. Distinct from preservation (untouched) and protection (active legal enforcement).

Common mix-up

Conservation does not mean "protecting from all use" — that confusion belongs to preservation. Conservation specifically permits continued human use of a resource, as long as that use is managed sustainably. If a student's answer describes total restriction, they're actually describing preservation, not conservation.
