Quantifiable Data — క్వాంటిఫయబుల్ డేటా (Quantifiable Data)

Glossary
Constitutional Law-I

As used in this case, objective, measurable figures that a State must collect and place before a court to justify a decision, rather than a general impression or assumption. The judgment does not give a formal definition, but requires such data on backwardness and inadequate representation.

Real-life example

In M. Nagaraj v. Union of India, the Court held that before a State provides reservation in promotion for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, it must place before the Court "the requisite quantifiable data in each case" showing backwardness and inadequate representation, without affecting overall administrative efficiency under Article 335.

M. Nagaraj v.
