Mala Fide —

Glossary
Constitutional Law-I

Mala fide (Latin, in bad faith) describes an act done for a wrongful or hidden purpose, not the purpose the law allows. In this case the petitioners said the Government set up the Commission to get information it could not get under the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Real-life example

The Court found no substantial ground for the plea. It held that "the charge of mala fides has not been brought home to the Government."
