Preliminary Decree — ప్రాథమిక డిక్రీ
A decree in a partition suit that declares the shares of the parties but does not divide the property. The suit stays pending until a final decree is passed.

The Court held that even where a preliminary decree has been passed, daughters get a share equal to a son in pending proceedings for the final decree or in an appeal (paras 106 and 129).
