Domestic Relationship — గృహ సంబంధం

Under Section 2(f) of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, a relationship between two persons who live or have lived together in a shared household, where they are related by consanguinity (blood), marriage, a relationship in the nature of marriage, adoption, or are family members living together as a joint family.

In D. Velusamy v. D. Patchaiammal, the Supreme Court quoted Section 2(f) in full and held that it includes not only marriage but also a relationship in the nature of marriage, a phrase it then had to interpret (para 16, 20).
